I Live for Trans Education Launching in Chicago!

We are finishing up I Live for Trans Education: A Youth Toolkit. I Live uses video from interviews with a diverse range of trans people to develop a multimedia toolkit that trans educators, youth workers, and youth leaders can use to educate about issues that impact the trans community from an intersectional perspective. The toolkit functions as a trans 202, going beyond the basics to discuss some of the more nuanced issues our community faces. Learn more about I Live here.

To celebrate and spread the word, we are hosting a Youth Convergence which will bring together youth from across Chicago for a day long train-the-trainer session on May 4th where they will learn how to use our tools to teach their own workshops in their own communities. The space will function as a leadership development tool for trans youth affiliated with TOHP, an educational space for youth who want a more in depth understanding of issues confronting the trans community. It is also a networking space for youth activists to meet other youth involved in trans activism around the city so that they can have a peer community.

There will be an all ages Launch Party in the evening from 7-10 in the same space where adult allies can join us for pizza, mingling, & dancing. We are being generously hosted by the Read/Write library at 914 N. California and the event is co-sponsored by Lambda Legal.

The party is open to all supporters, but the daytime event is selective and youth-only. Please RSVP to transoralhistory@gmail.com about convergence attendees by April 30th.
