Economic Justice

FIERCE (Fabulous Independent Educated Radicals for Community Empowerment)

Led by queer (LGBTQ) youth of color in New York City, FIERCE aims to develop politically conscious leaders who are invested in improving thier communities through youth-led campaigns, leadership development programs, and cultural expression through arts and media.

GenderJUST

Based in Chicago, GenderJUST (Gender Justice United for Societal Transformation) is dedicated to developing leadership and building power through organizing. It has ongoing campaigns working with public high school students to combat violence and with city government to more equitably distribute HIV/AIDS funding throughout the city.

Queers for Economic Justice

QEJ is a New York-based organization that is committed to promoting economic justice in a context of sexual and gender liberation through campaigns ranging from shelter organizing to immigrant rights.

Community Support

GenderQueer Chicago

An inlcusive community group, Genderqueer Chicago aims to create safe spaces for discussions and thinking about gender. It also hosts events and programming to address the needs of the gender variant community and its allies.

Gerber/Hart Library

Located in Chicago, the Gerber/Hart Library is the midwest's largest LGBT library and archive. In addition to perseving and protecting artice of importance to LGBT history, it offers a variety of support and educational programming for the queer community.

Howard Brown Health Center

Located in Chicago, Howard Brown Health Center is one of the nation’s largest LGBT healthcare organizations. Its diverse health and social service delivery system focuses around the following programmatic divisions: primary medical care, behavioral health, research, HIV/STD prevention, case management, social services, youth services, elder services, and community initiatives.

Transgender Emergency Fund

In conjunction with the Massachusettes Transgender Political Coalition, the Transgender Emergency Fund (TEF) was created to provide critical assistance to low-income transgender people. Through the fund's intervention, transpeople have been able to avoid homelessness, maintain access to health care, and live with greater dignity and stability.

MTPC is a political action coalition who works to educate the public, advocate with state, local, and federal government, engage in political activism, and encourage empowerment of community members through collective action.

Silvia Rivera Law Project

SRLP is a collective that works to improve access to respectful and affirming social, health, and legal services for gender nonconforming people in New York City.

Actor Slash Model

Actor Slash Model is an artistic duo based out of Chicago. They are a rockibily band who has recently produced a documentary about transgender musicians named Riot Acts which is currently on the festival circut. Visit thier site tolearn more about shows they ar eplaying and a list of upcoming festival showings.

Just Seeds Collective

While this site does not include any specific imagery from Just Seeds, it has been heavily influenced aestheticall and conceptually by the People's History Poster project. In addition, one of the posters originally designed for the Community in Transition exhibition has been accepted by JustSeeds to be included in a printed anthology of People's History Posters which is expected to be published later this year.
